Twenty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time (B)

BIDDING PRAYERS

PRIEST

Our personal love for Jesus Christ opens the way for eternal life for us. We make our prayers to God our Father that the world may take heed of the voice of his Son.

READER

Let us pray for all preachers in the Church: may their constant teaching be of Christ’s love for us and ours for him. May they help us to realise that he is the one who makes it possible for us to share in God’s own life:  (pause)  … Lord hear us.

We pray for the leaders of our country, that they may they value the Christian heritage they have received. In all their laws and deliberations, may they seek always to protect the freedom of the individual to practice the Christian faith they profess:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

For those who have lost their faith: may the Holy Spirit help them to look again at the life of Christ and know that he alone has the words of eternal life:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

May all Christian husbands and wives reflect in their marriage the love which Christ has for us, his Church:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

We pray with Mary, Mother of Christ, as we say together: Hail Mary … etc.

We pray in silence for our own intentions to God our Father.

PRIEST

God our Father, we acknowledge you as our God and in our prayers, we turn to you for help. We make this prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.
