Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time (C)

BIDDING PRAYERS

PRIEST

God our Father sent his only Son, Jesus Christ, on his mission of love and reconciliation. We ask the Lord for the grace to respond to his call in our everyday lives.

READER

Let us pray for all missionaries in the Church: may workers be sent into the harvest to preach the gospel to all. May they bring the life of grace to those who have not yet heard of Christ:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

May Christians in government be touched by God’s love as truly as Isaiah was. May they be witnesses to our country of the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ and may this be reflected in all their deliberations and decisions: (pause) … Lord hear us.

For those who have become lukewarm in their Christian calling: may they, like Saint Peter, not be afraid to try again. May they rely on God’s power rather than their own strengths as they carry our their apostolic work with a renewed spirit of hope:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

We pray for an outward-focused attitude in this community: may we be conscious of the needs of others and see our community as part of Christ’s mission to the whole world:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

We pray with Mary who gave her Son to the world as we say together: Hail Mary … etc.

In silence we pray to the Lord for our own personal intentions.

    PRIEST

God our Father, we responded to your call in Baptism. May we now live out the challenge of your invitation to be your messengers. We make our prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.
