Elaine Godfrey (Holy Cross) – Chair

Hello, My name is Elaine Godfrey. I am now the Chair of the new Pastoral Council.

I have lived in Charfield since 2005 and have attended Holy Cross Church since then.

I have 3 children (4 – if you count my husband – Jon); Erin – 16, Conor – 14, Micheala – 11. They altar serve at Holy Cross and Micheala will be making her Confirmation in the next few weeks.
Our focus at the moment is trying to build numbers again in Holy Cross and build ties with Christ the King. We will be holding some social events. Look out for coffee mornings and hopefully a quiz soon. Feel free to stop me for a chat or email me at emtgodfrey@hotmail.com

Gillian Pollard (CTK) – Vice-Chair

I’m Gill, now Vice-Chair of the Pastoral Council. I’m based in Christ the King and I joined the parish about 4 years ago with my husband, Fred and our son Francis after moving here from St Bonaventure’s parish in Bristol. During the week I work as a structural engineer in offshore wind design. In my spare time I enjoy running, knitting and music.

I’m really keen to get to know more of the parishioners, of all ages, and help strengthen the links within the church community. If you’d like to have a chat then you can find me playing flute in the folk group at Sunday mass, or you can get in touch with me at gillian.a.pollard@gmail.com

I am also a governor at our parish primary school. I am very interested in what the youth in our parish would like to see going on. So please contact me at the e mail address below and let me know. paulenergysave@aol.com

God Bless Paul Crowley.

Yvonne Baker (Holy Cross)

Hello, I am Yvonne and an elected member of the Parish Pastoral Council. I live in Wotton Under Edge with my partner Chris, our two children and Molly the dog!

We moved to Wotton from London in December 2017. My partner and I are both retired solicitors and consider our greatest achievement to be the adoption of our two lovely children, Natasha aged 12 and Kuber aged 19.

In my spare time I enjoy walking, travelling and going to the cinema / theatre. I love being a reader and singing in the choir at Holy Cross Church.

I am greatly honoured to be a member of the Parish Pastoral Council and welcome any comments you would like me to raise at our meetings. You can either speak to me after Mass at Holy Cross Church or please email me at yvonnebakeruk@hotmail.co.uk

Jane Parker (Holy Cross)

Hello, I am Jane Parker and have been a member of Holy Cross almost all of my life.

I made my first Holy communion alongside a certain Giorgio Malecki many years ago and was confirmed in Christ the King. Through the years my family have been Baptised, married and, sadly, buried from Holy Cross.

My daughter was the first female altar server in Holy Cross, and my granddaughter also served Mass for over 10 years.

At present I act as sacrisist, am a reader and ‘sing’ in the choir. Holy Cross plays a big part in my life. I am proud to have this opportunity to serve on the joint parish council with Christ the King.

Bob Sheehan (CTK)

Hey there! just enjoying classical music on a Sunday afternoon, one of my eclectic musical tastes.

It’s me, Bob Sheehan (retired) a parishioner here for 35yrs where I met and married Georgina in 1991.  Usually attend 9:00 mass or Wotton.  Georgina has recently become visually impaired so I’ve become her carer.  Her main interest is reading so I’ve become adept reading novels and religious books for her.

I enjoy cooking and working in the front garden for our enjoyment, and for passersby on the stream path outside.  We love varied cuisines eating out in pubs and restaurants. Holidays are usually to the Isle of Man where Georgina was born.  Have had many hobbies including relief carving of Celtic designs in wood.

Tim Sherwin (CTK)

I’m Tim, and I am a member of the PPC. I live at the very southern edge of the parish, in Gaunts Earthcott near Almondsbury. I am a father to a 1 year old daughter, Tansy, am married to a long-suffering wife, Susie, and am dragged around by a very energetic dog, Fingal. We moved to the area about one-and-a-half years ago from London, to be nearer to family.

Professionally, I am a barrister specialising in business and private client litigation. Do feel free to come and say “hi” at any point. I’m also available at tgasherwin@gmail.com.
