CAFOD
Jean and I are the CAFOD focal points for Christ The King. We try to promote CAFOD’s role within the parish, and an important part of this is providing information that may be useful or helpful to any who wish to find out about CAFOD’s work. We will use this spot on the parish web-site to say a bit more about events or campaigns, or meetings that we have attended, and try to give a picture that’s fuller than can be put in the bulletin or pinned to the noticeboard. We hope you find it interesting and, maybe, useful. We’ll update it weekly or fortnightly and would welcome any thoughts or questions you may have in response – our number is 01454 419439. Thornbury Churches Together
Thornbury Churches Together (TCT) is a group of churches covenanted together since 1989 and linked to Churches Together in Gloucestershire. It is formed from representatives of the all the Christian Churches in Thornbury. TCT aims to draw the churches together in greater understanding and fellowship, to enable them to bear a harmonious witness to the community, and to give expression to their common faith and devotion. We believe it is unusual, though probably not unique, that as many as seven denominations have been happy to covenant and continue to work together in one community. TCT works to enrich the lives of the whole community in many ways. TCT is active in Christian Aid, Fair Trade, Justice and Drop the Debt campaigns. The churches also run a Fair-trade stall at the United Reformed Church each Saturday morning when visitors can enjoy a cup of coffee and browse or buy books. (This information comes from Wotton Baptist Church website)

Fairtrade
Christ the King has been awarded Fairtrade Church status, so is committed to using Fairtrade tea and coffee in meetings, other Fairtrade products where possible and promoting fair trade during Fairtrade Fortnight, which is normally in February. Sales of Fairtrade goods from Traidcraft are held every 4-6 weeks in the Church Hall and details are announced in the weekly parish bulletin.
