BIDDING PRAYERS
PRIEST
It was God the Father’s wish that Christ should be King and Ruler of the Universe. We ask the Lord for the grace that his Kingdom may come in the world.
READER
We pray for the Church, that she, like Jesus before Pilate, may proclaim to the leaders of the world that she rules by love, not fear, and by service, not power: (pause) … Lord hear us.
We pray for the nations who oppose each other in armed conflict: may they seek the ways of reconciliation and dialogue by which war is averted and peace and harmony restored: (pause) … Lord hear us.
We pray for those whose lives are dominated by a desire for material and temporal power: may they come to know that all things are passing. May they know, too, that the truly strong are those who, in all honesty, acknowledge their human weakness and frailty before the Lord: (pause) .. Lord hear us.
We pray for a greater hope in the community: may all our days, especially the darkest ones, be enlightened by the power of Christ’s Resurrection which brings hope, even in death: (pause) … Lord hear us.
We pray now with Mary, Mother of Christ the King, as we say together: Hail Mary … etc.
In silence, we pray for our own intentions to God our loving Father.
PRIEST
God our Father, you have called us into the kingdom of which your Son is King and we make our prayers to you through him with both love and trust. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
