BIDDING PRAYERS
PRIEST
On this great day, when we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit, let us ask God our Father to renew each one of us, the members of his Body, through his Spirit, so that all may be filled with his power.
READER
We pray for the leaders of the Church: that they, like the Apostles, may be filled with God’s Holy Spirit and may speak to the world of his unending love for everyone: (pause) … Lord hear us.
We pray for a spirit of peace and joy in the world: that the face of the earth may be renewed and the coldness of conflict and discord in society be dispelled by the cleansing fire and warmth of the Holy Spirit: (pause) … Lord hear us.
We pray for those who have grown lukewarm in their faith: may they find new life and inspiration through the power of the Spirit: (pause) … Lord hear us.
We pray for our own community: may we never be afraid to follow where the Holy Spirit leads so that we may discover a greater knowledge of truth and a life filled with love: (pause) … Lord hear us.
The Holy Spirit came down on Mary and with her we pray: Hail Mary…etc.
Renewed in the Holy Spirit, we make our own prayers to God our Father.
PRIEST
God our Father, your Spirit renews our world. May he fill us with your love and enable us to do your will. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
