Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time (B)

BIDDING PRAYERS

PRIEST

God our Father does not despise the small and humble but values and cherishes it. Let us ask him for the grace by which the mustard seed of the Church may grow and spread to every corner of the world.

READER

Let us pray for all Christian people: may they always be sensitive to the truth, seeking always to grow in the knowledge of God ‘s word:  (pause) … Lord hear us

We pray for those who work on the land: may they rejoice in rich harvests and give God thanks for his gifts:  (pause)  … Lord hear us.

For those whose work seems small and insignificant: may they recognise the value of all work as a sharing in the creative activity of God, and may society learn to appreciate the contribution made by all its workers:  (pause).. Lord hear us.

May the inner peace of soul of this community grow and deepen as we remember the apparent failure of the Cross which ended in the victory of Easter Day:  (pause)  … Lord hear us.

We pray with Mary, the humble Jewish girl, as we say: Hail Mary … etc.

We pray in silence for our own intentions.

PRIEST

Heavenly Father, we praise and thank you for the life you give. Strengthen our faith, give us enduring hope and enable us to grow each day in the love you have placed in our hearts. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
