31st Sunday in Ordinary Time

BIDDING PRAYERS

PRIEST

We often stray from the Lord’s path and do not live as we should. Let us ask God our Father to redirect our steps into the ways of the Gospel.

READER

We pray for every member of the Church, clerical, religious and lay: may each one be open to God’s promptings in their lives and may they respond with true generosity: (pause) … Lord hear us.

Let us pray for those who are sick at home or in hospital: may they know the love of Christ which surrounds them and may they find strength in his presence: (pause) … Lord hear us.

Let us remember nurses and doctors and everyone involved in the care of those who suffer illness: may they find encouragement and reward in their work for the good of all: (pause) … Lord hear us.

We pray for ourselves assembled here at this Eucharist: may each day find us growing in our awareness of God’s love both for ourselves and for all his children: (pause) … Lord hear us.

We pray with Mary, Mother of the Church, as we say: Hail Mary … etc.

We make our personal petitions in silence to God, our loving Father.

PRIEST

Heavenly Father, we give you praise and thanks for bringing us together in this celebration. Grant us the grace to live by the faith we profess. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
