BIDDING PRAYERS
PRIEST
John the Baptist came preaching his message of repentance because the Kingdom of God was close at hand. Let us pray to God our Father that we may turn again to him in repentance and follow the call of his Son.
READER
May all Christians reveal a spirit of repentance and profound faith so that others may come to believe in the same Lord: (pause) … Lord hear us.
May those in government always appreciate the weaknesses of human nature and seek to create a Christian environment where justice and peace prevail: (pause) … Lord hear us.
May all people learn to see this world as a place through which they pass to something much greater and with confidence, ask God’s mercy to fill them with renewed heart and spirit: (pause) … Lord hear us.
May those who have never heard of the Gospel be enlightened by the Holy Spirit and walk in the light of grace by which they see their lives in a new way: (pause) … Lord hear us.
We pray with Mary who enjoyed a special understanding of God’s ways as we pray: Hail Mary … etc.
We pray in silence to God our Father for our own personal intentions.
PRIEST
God our Father, you have created us to share eternal life with you. We give you praise, and thanks and we ask that we may have the grace to persevere faithfully to the end. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
