Palm Sunday (B)

BIDDING PRAYERS

PRIEST

In these days of Holy Week when Christ prayed and entreated his Father in the anguish of his Passion, let us pray to the Lord, not trusting in our own good deeds, but in his power to save us.

READER

We pray for the Church: may she be one with her Lord, who gave his life in loving surrender to his Father, so that those who believe in him might live the new life of grace:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

For the world in which we live: may all the world receive from God, true life and abiding peace, through the redeeming blood of Christ, who died for all:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

Let us remember the sick and the suffering: We ask that they might unite their illness and pain with the sufferings of our Lord in his Passion for the salvation of the world:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

May believers and unbelievers everywhere, through the mystery of God’s Providence, share in the fruits of Christ’s Passion and come to the glory of rising again:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

We unite our prayers with Mary, Mother of the crucified Lord, as we say together: Hail Mary…etc.

We pray to God in silence for our many needs.

PRIEST

God our Father, we confess our guilt before you, but your compassion for us fills us with hope and a new purpose in life. We make these and all our prayers to you through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
