BIDDING PRAYERS
PRIEST
God our Father sent his Son, born of a woman, Mary, to enable us to be adopted as his children. Let us pray to him for all the needs of the Church and the world.
READER
Let us pray for the Church: may we realise that in honouring Mary, we also glorify God who has chosen to enter the human family through her: (pause) … Lord hear us.
We pray for those who govern the affairs of the world: may they, like Mary, be so open to the Spirit and humble in the service of others that they do not consider themselves superior, but acknowledge God as Father of all: (pause) … Lord hear us.
For those who are afflicted and see no way out of their worries and concerns: may they call on Mary, who bore her burdens beneath the Cross in a spirit of total surrender to God’s will: (pause) … Lord hear us.
Let us pray for the salvation of the world: just as Mary brought down a blessing on herself, may we ask her to intercede for us all, so that the power of God’s blessing may be with us and with those we love every day of our lives: (pause) … Lord hear us.
We make our personal prayers with Mary Mother of God as we say together: Hail Mary … etc.
We pray to God our Father in the silence of our hearts, for all our needs.
PRIEST
God our Father, today we join our prayers with Mary, the Mother of your Son and our Mother. May we honour her always. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Mary, Mother of God (January 1st)
