Fourth Sunday in Lent (B)

BIDDING PRAYERS

PRIEST

God our Father, because of his infinite mercy, sent his only Son into the world so that through him, all who believe might be saved. We turn to him in prayer, not trusting in our own merits but in his power to save us.

READER

Let us pray for the Church in her work of reconciliation: may she continue to proclaim the mercy of Christ our Saviour, whose supreme sacrifice of his life is greater than all human sinfulness:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

We pray for the leaders of our society: may they show forth God’s love and mercy by being open to his wisdom. May they guide their people in the ways of justice, tolerance, peace, and forgiveness:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

For those oppressed by human weakness: may they see the light of God’s love shining through the death and resurrection of his only Son and so find courage and hope in a life of grace:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

May all Christian people keep close to Christ and so be ever reconciled with God and with one another:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

We pray with Mary who gave her Son to the world as we say together: Hail Mary …..

We make our own prayers in silence to God who never ceases to show mercy to us.

PRIEST

God our Father, you save us from our sins through the Cross of Christ. May we always seek your forgiveness and seek your grace. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
