Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time (B)

BIDDING PRAYERS

PRIEST

We are all called as followers of Jesus Christ to continue his healing ministry. Let us ask God our Father for all the graces we need to become healers in our world.

READER

Let us pray for doctors and nurses and for all who bring gifts of care and healing to others. may they be supported in their work and may they experience God’s love working through them:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

We pray for all in need of healing and reconciliation: may Christ touch their hearts and set them on the road to recovery and new life: (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

For those who refuse to be helped and for those who feel obliged to go it alone in this life: may their sense of isolation be eased. May their hearts be moved by the care of others and may they reach out to the needs of those around them:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

Let us pray for an understanding of suffering: may we always see in it the loving hands of Jesus whose wish it is that we should be healed of all fear, including the fear of death and dying:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

We pray with Mary, mother of the crucified Jesus, as we say together: Hail Mary … etc.

We pray in silence for our own needs to the Lord Jesus who brings us his healing grace.

PRIEST

God our Father, we pray to you knowing that you bring your healing power to our lives every day, especially when we turn our hearts to you. We make our prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.
