Feast of the Transfiguration

BIDDING PRAYERS

PRIEST

Jesus was transformed in glory on the mountain when his face shone like the sun. Together with Saints Peter, James, and John, we make our prayers to the Lord as we draw near to him in faith.

READER

We pray for the Church and all her members: may she always be inspired by the glory of her Lord and that his light may shine through her teaching. Lord hear us.

Let us pray for those who defend human rights: may they continue to see every human being as made in God’s image and likeness. May they help to bring home to the world that each person is worthy of the basic human freedoms in their own right. Lord hear us.

For those whose vision of Christ has grown dim: may they, in the company of the apostles, discover in quiet prayer and reflection, the glory and wonder of Christ’s presence. Lord hear us.

We pray for a sense of joy in the community: that we may always be proud of our Christian calling and see our weekend worship together as our meeting place with Christ and with one another. Lord hear us.

We pray with Mary, who shares in the Son’s glory, as we say: Hail Mary …

We pray in silence for our own petitions to God our loving Father.

PRIEST

God our Father, we make our prayers to you in conjunction with your Son and in union with you Holy Spirit. Amen.
