Feast of the Holy Family (B)

BIDDING PRAYERS

PRIEST

It was God the Father’s will that his Son should share family life. Let us pray to the Lord that he will continue to enrich our homes with his love and grace.

READER

Let us pray for the family life of the Church: may we always remember that in Jesus Christ we are all brothers and sisters, and so, may we learn to live in peace and harmony with one another:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

We pray for the family of the whole human race: that all may come to realise that Christ is the true peace of our world. We ask that, in his name, all conflicts of race, colour, creed and social distinction be resolved:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

We remember those whose home life is broken or whose marriage has proved unhappy. May they pick up the threads of their lives again and see their loneliness as a call from God to turn to him in their distress:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

Let us pray that all God’s people who are parents, sons or daughters may come to a deeper love and understanding of one another:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

We make our prayer with Mary, Mother of the Church, as we say together: Hail Mary … etc.

6. We pray in silence for our own personal needs as members of God’s family.

PRIEST

God our Father, we celebrate the gift of your Son who shared our human family with Mary and Joseph. May we be one with them in peace, harmony, and love. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
