2nd Sunday of Advent (A)

BIDDING PRAYERS

PRIEST

Jesus came into a world divided and torn apart by sin. Let us pray that he will come again to complete his work of reconciliation and bring peace and harmony to all peoples and all nations.

READER

Let us pray for the Church: may her leaders and all her members live out the call of John the Baptist to repentance, which means putting God first in everything and seeking the good of his kingdom in every situation: (pause) .. Lord hear us

We pray for the government of this country: may our leaders, by their laws and deliberations, reflect real spiritual values so that everything they say and do shows their commitment to the person of Christ:  (pause) … Lord hear us

For young people everywhere, especially those of our community: may they learn to believe deeply the truths of the Christian faith. May it give them the vision and the courage to build a better world for the future: (pause) .. Lord hear us

Let us pray for a spirit of reconciliation among Christian communities: may they see one another through the eyes of Christ and be gentle and understanding with each other as he is with us. May they seek unity through reconciliation in all things:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

We pray with Mary, the Mother of Peace, as we say: Hail Mary … etc.

In silence, we pray to God for all our personal needs.

PRIEST

God our Father, your Son is the peace between us, uniting us to one another and to you. May we live our lives in total commitment to you. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
