28th Sunday in Ordinary Time (A)

BIDDING PRAYERS

PRIEST

Gathered together to celebrate the Eucharist, a foretaste of the heavenly banquet, to which, as Christians, we are invited, let us pray to God the Father for all the graces we need.

READER

God continually invites us to the banquet of a fuller, deeper and more spiritual life, a life worthy of our dignity as his children. We ask that we may become ever more open to recognising and responding to his beckoning. Lord hear us.

We pray for those who do not value their own lives: for those who are depressed and despairing, that they may come to know the love God has for them. Lord hear us.

Let us pray for those who grow our food and those who prepare it: that they may know the value of their work and be happy to share in God’s creation. Lord hear us.

For a deeper appreciation of the Lord’s goodness to us: may we never take for granted all the blessings of the Lord – life, family, friends and, above all, the Eucharist. Lord hear us.

We pray with Mary who gave us her Son, as we say: Hail Mary … etc.

We pray in silence for our own intentions to God our Father.

PRIEST

God our Father, you have prepared a banquet for us and so we pray that we may make ourselves ready for the feast. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
