23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

BIDDING PRAYERS

PRIEST

God our Father has called us together to live in the community of the Catholic Church. As we bring to mind his many blessings on us, let us ask for all the graces we need to live together as true Christians.

READER

Let us pray for the Church and all Christians: may they share their strengths and weaknesses in mutual love and grow together in the Christian life, witnessing to Christ’s presence among them:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

We pray for leaders of nations: may they appreciate that the people they govern are all brothers and sisters of the one human family. May their policies never be a source of division by which people become separated for any reason:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

For the nations of the world: may they stand firm and united in their resolve to stop all forms of aggression. May they never cease to strive for a more caring, humane, and just society world-wide:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

Let us pray for parents, teachers, and all those with responsibility for children: may they lead by love and correct and guide with patience and forbearance. May they always remember that they too were once young and made mistakes:  (pause)  …  Lord hear us.

We make our prayers with Mary, Mother of the Redeemer: Hail Mary … etc.

We pray in silence for our own needs.

PRIEST

God our Father, hear our prayers and change us, day by day, into the kind of people you want us to be. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
