21st Sunday in Ordinary Time (A)

BIDDING PRAYERS

PRIEST

Gathered together as a people of faith who believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ and the authority which he gave to his Church, we pray with confidence to God our Father for all the graces which our Church and our world needs.

READER

Let us pray for our Holy Father, successor of Saint Peter: may he always be guided by the Holy Spirit so that his guidance in the solution of the world’s problems may be inspired by a deep faith and personal love of the Lord:  (pause) … Lord hear us.

We pray for those in positions of authority: when their faith in God and in themselves falters, may they turn to the Lord anew, asking him to strengthen their faith once again: (pause) … Lord hear us.

For those with weak faith: may they hold fast to their love of the Lord so that, when the storms of doubt have passed, they will stand firm as a rock in their Christian belief: (pause) … Lord hear us.

Let us pray for a deepening of our own faith: may we help and support each other in our daily lives as we strive to deepen our personal faith in Christ and his Church. May all we say and do come from a living faith: (pause) … Lord hear us.

We pray with Mary, Mother of the Church, as we say: Hail Mary … etc.

We pray in silence for our own intentions.

PRIEST

God our Father, hear the prayers of your Church, the rock on which our faith is based. We make our prayer through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
