The church building as it stands today was opened in 1964 though the original parish was created several years earlier in the early 1940s. The church stands in what was originally the garden of Porch House which was bought in 1961 for £5,250. Porch House itself is thought to be one of the oldest buildings in Thornbury dating back to the 15th century.
